Śrī Nārāyaṇa Maharaj became successor after Chiṁtāmaṇī Maharaj being his eldest son. He performed many miracles to remove the miseries of people and engaged them into Gaṇeśa Sampradaya and his Devotion. He was possessing many sacred divine powers. He supported many monarchs and chieftains and enhanced their morale by providing them financial assistance. That is why many of them gave grants to the Deo Samasthana. During the reign of Śrī Nārāyaṇa Maharaj, the Sansthan acquired glory and the fame of the Śrī Gaṇeśa sect spread far and wide.
Śrī Nārāyaṇa Maharaj was the Rajguru (Master/Teacher of Kings). He never forgot his nation and religion. He assisted Chhatrapati Śrī Shivaji Maharaj to maintain the sovereignty of rule. In Shivaji Maharaj’s childhood, many times Rajmata Jijabai used to visit Chinchwad with him. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, (protector of Cows & Brahmins) made him Guru. The verse from the text that Śrī Chhatrapati composed Raj Vyvahar Kosh—a book on state of affairs through a scholar named Raghunath Pandit is as follows :
चिंतामण्यवतार एव भगवान् यः पावनारोधसि
ग्रामे चिंचवडाभिधे वितनुते वासं सतामग्रणीः ।
लोकानुग्रहकारिणं गजमुखध्यानाप्तसिद्ध्यष्टकम्
श्रीनारायणदेवमार्यमनिशं सेवे तमिष्टार्थदम् ॥
Meaning: Shiva Sarvabhauma (A sovereign king Shivaji) was blessed with Anugraha by a highly intelligent, superior saint named Nārāyaṇa, a resident of Chinchwad, who has attained divinities by chanting Heramba (Name of Lord Gaṇeśa).
There is another verse in the same book,
यः सिद्धिमावहति चिंचवडाधिवासी
हेरंबपादभजनेन महानुभावः ।
नारायणभिधसुधीतिलकादवाप
तस्मादनुग्रहमसौ शिवसार्वभौमः ॥
Meaning: I constantly serve Nārāyaṇa Deo, who is an incarnation of Chiṁtāmaṇī, who is the best among gentlemen, who is gracious to the people living in the village of Chinchwad on the banks of the Pavana river, who fulfills the wishes of Devotees, who has gained eight supreme divine powers by worshiping Gaṇeśa.
After completion of his incarnational work in the year 1719 AD, an image of Lord Gaṇeśa appeared at the place where he was cremated.
