Even though this site does not belong to Aṣṭavināyaka Gaṇapatīs, it was Śrī Moraya Gosavi, a famous ascetic, for whom Śrī Mayureśvara of Morgaon came to Chinchwad and it gained importance. Among the Gaṇeśa Pīṭhas (Seat or Shrine of a deity regarded most sacred) of Maharashtra Morgaon, Rajur and Padmalay considered as complete Gaṇeśa Pīṭhas whereas Chinchwad is partial Gaṇeśa Pīṭha of Gāṇapatya cult. By reason of its association with Śrī Moraya Gosavi Maharaj, Chinchwad has been mentioned in historical sources as Gaṇeśapur. Chinchwad is as sacred as Morgaon in terms of gaining Puṇya (religious merit) and Worship. Many Devotees have experienced divine visions and witnessed their desires fulfilled at this place. Śrī Mayureśvara, in the incarnation of Śrī Maṁgalamūrtī, resides at Maṁgalamūrtī Wāḍā (palace).
